The Monitoring Girl
Multimedia & Book Design
This project originated from a dream. In it, I was transformed into a middle school girl trapped in a horrific anti-utopian world like the book 1984, where the only way to survive was to listen in on people constantly.
I created storybooks about monitoring girls using a nonlinear narrative technique and multimedia presentation. Through my stories, I hope to pay homage to my favorite author, George Orwell, and celebrate freedom.

Book 1
Book 2
A grain of salt is used to visualize the sound, and the gradually dispersing grains of salt are a metaphor for the gradual breakdown of the couple's relationship under the weight of the intensifying wiretapping.
Sound visualization is achieved by using voice pitch and volume level. The gradual increase in pitch shows the irreconcilable conflict between the couple and gives the female protagonist, who listens to the couple, psychological weight regarding whether or not to report.
